Handling Taxes on Earnings

As a care provider on Carelancer, tax collection on your earnings depends on your profession (Nurse or PSW), the client’s tax status, and the location of the service.

Tax Collection Rules Based on Profession:

  • Nurses:

    • If the client does not have exempt status, Carelancer does not collect taxes on the service amount.
    • Taxes are charged only on the Carelancer service fee.

  • Personal Support Workers (PSWs):

    • If the client does not have exempt status, Carelancer collects taxes on both the service amount and the Carelancer service fee.

Your Tax Responsibilities as a Care Provider:

  • Carelancer automatically collects and remits applicable taxes based on your profession and the service location.
  • Keep track of your earnings and invoices by reviewing the Billing & Payouts section.
  • Consult a tax professional to understand your obligations, including whether you need to remit collected taxes or file additional tax returns.
